CLASS OUTLINE - GRANDMOTHER'S DIAMOND RING This class outline may be used by teachers who wish to teach a project using The Creative Pattern Book by Judy Martin. Individuals seeking guidance for self instruction are also welcome to use this outline. I recommend beginning each class with a preview to ensure that students will come to the first work session properly prepared. Feel free to tailor this outline to your own teaching style. I divide each project into sessions. Sessions can be planned for consecutive weeks or all sessions can be presented in a single all-day workshop. The outline indicates where you can find additional lessons and details in the book or on this web site. Class Description: Grandmother’s Diamond Ring is a new pattern from Judy Martin’s Creative Pattern Book. It was inspired by the traditional favorites, Double Wedding Ring and Grandmother’s Flower Garden. Grandmother’s Diamond Ring gives the illusion of interlocked circles without the fuss. This rotary cut and machine pieced quilt is much easier to make than its predecessors. It has no set-in seams, no paper piecing, and no curves. You may easily adapt this outline for the four Grandmother’s Wedding Ring versions in the book, although the Grandmother’s Diamond Ring is faster and easier with simplified joints and 33% fewer patches. This beautiful queen-sized quilt can be made from scraps, fat quarters, or just a handful of fabrics. The border width can easily be adjusted to accommodate different quilting motifs and different bed sizes from twin to king.
